We kept Penelope back for our breeding program, but just recently got back her genetic testing and discovered that she has blood type B. That means nothing for being a pet, but for a breeder - since my males are all A or AB, her blood antibodies would attack and kill her kittens if they nurse on her. It's do-able, I've done it before, you just have to remove the kittens for 24 hours from her straight after birth, but it creates more stress and work and I'd just rather not having any B blood type Queens in my cattery. So because of this, we are retiring her before she's had a litter. She just turned 1 year old in June and has never had a litter.
She is such a beautiful sweet girl, but she does have bowel issues. Penelope is discounted because she seems to have, what I believe, is a food intolerance. We have done multiple fecal PCRs on her and all have came back clear and she still struggles with soft stool. I believe she may be allergic to chicken and might require a specialized digestive diet that has a single protein that is not chicken.
